Sponsor a Rabbit

SPONSORSHIP

The Rabbit Advocates have many rabbits in their care that have medical issues requiring ongoing vet care or major surgeries and medications. All of our rabbits are in individual foster homes and all expenses, including medical, are paid by the foster person. In some cases this means taking care of many healthy rabbits in addition to some requiring daily medical care. Most of these special needs rabbits are unadoptable because of their medical problems and will remain in foster care for their lifetimes.

Please take a moment to read about our rabbits in need of medical assistance sponsorship. If you would like to help your contribution will directly aid our mission to improve the quality of life for these special care rabbits.

All donations are tax deductible. Sponsor names will appear on our website or you may choose to remain anonymous if you prefer.

Abby

Abby Abby is a beautiful black and white lop, who is about 3 years old. She had been living in a cage outdoors the first two years of her life, until somehow she suffered an injury to her spine, and appeared to be partially paralyzed. Abby’s owner lost her job, and contacted the Rabbit Advocate help line for assistance with Abby’s medical bills. The RA Medical Fund helped with Abby's bill, and then we were informed that the owner now wanted to euthanize the bunny. At that point, one of our volunteers agreed to take Abby into her home and the owner signed over care and treatment. Abby

Abby came to us with cataracts in both eyes, ear infection in both ears, severe paresis, and fleas. She was also diagnosed with ecunniculi and pasturella, in addition to the spine trauma. She was given medicine for these issues, and continues to have problems and many more visits to the Vet. Most recently she developed several abscesses on her legs that required surgery, and more medications.

Despite all she has been through, Abby is still a happy and enthusiastic rabbit. She loves to eat and enjoys the company of other special needs rabbits in her home. She is in no pain and receives the best possible care from her very dedicated caretaker.
